Dr med Isabel N. Schellinger
Dr. Isabel N. Schellinger is a physician, scientist, and entrepreneur dedicated to transforming vascular care. After conducting research at Stanford University and the Karolinska Institute, she co-founded Angiolutions to address a major treatment gap: patients with early-stage abdominal aortic aneurysms. Today, therapies only exist for late-stage disease - when surgery becomes complex and risky. Angiolutions is changing that, developing the first implantable device specifically designed to treat aneurysms at an earlier stage and slow or stop their progression.
Since Angiolutions started its operations in 2021, the company has progressed from top-tier, peer-reviewed science to clinical application and is now conducting its first-in-human trial. Angiolutions is one of the few early-stage medical device companies to receive both venture capital funding and the highly competitive EIC Accelerator, Europe’s flagship program for breakthrough innovation. The company’s approach is also endorsed by leading international key opinion leaders who believe in its potential to shift aneurysm care from reactive to proactive treatment.
Isabel’s work has been honored with awards across medicine, science, and business, including Forbes’ “30 Under 30 Europe,” MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35, and numerous fellowships. She was invited to the Nobel Laureate Meeting, served on the board of the Young Academy at the German Academy of Sciences, and led the national working group on start-ups and transfer at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Her journey reflects what’s possible when deep science and bold entrepreneurship come together - with patients at the center.
